Gen-X

Gen-X - Biography

Gen-X approaches and performs every gig as if it was their last. This shows our audience the passion we have to perform and gives them an entertainment experience they take home with them with an overwhelming desire for more.

Lead Vocals…Kate Sneddon

Kate is a passionate musician with pure interest and respect for great music. "being exposed to iconic music from a very young age has made me the singer I am today" is something that Kate holds close to her heart and refers to regularly.

With years of experience performing on stage, Kate loves connecting with the audience and playing music that she loves, accompanied by musicians that she admires and trusts whole heartedly.

Kates full and strong vocal range is truly awesome. Not only does she have the ability to power out both male and female classic rock numbers but can back that up with smooth ballads to please and connect with audiences.

Guitar/Lead Vocals…Kris Arendse
Kris is the cornerstone of Gen-X; he truly is the “human jukebox” with an uncanny ability to literally play anything any audience throws at him. Not only does he play everything he learns note and style perfect, he’s also the lead singer with an incredibly powerful voice. His tastes in music are wide and varied. As a result of his relationship with the Spanish community of Newcastle, he has played in various Spanish clubs in Sydney and on several occasions has performed at the Sydney Opera House. Swap the Flamenco 6 string for a Les Paul and you’d swear you’re at a Metallica gig! Recently he has performed professionally in a number of acts around Newcastle. These include Dinah Moe Hum, Aftershock, Offworld and was also a member of the originals band Oracle. More recently he performed in Expozay, 4Play and Lock’n’Load. His influences include his father John, Kirk Hammett, Jimi Hendrix, Paco de Lucia, Gary Moore, Randy Rhodes, Marty Friedman, Zakk Wylde and Frank Zappa. If you love the 6 string, it doesn’t get better than Kris.

Bass Guitar/Vocals…Zoran Ilievski
As far as Zoran is concerned, all you can hear in rock music is bass. Well…. Up until the original Exposé was formed in 1998, Zoran had only ever played Macedonian music. For 20 years he has played and continues to play this style of music with Sydney bands but a few years ago when given the opportunity to join a rock band, he didn’t let the opportunity slip. During the past ten years, whether he’s ‘slapping’ the 4 string playing Chilli Pepper’s Aeroplane or sliding around on his 6 string Warwick bass, Zoran’s enjoyment in music has been elevated to new heights. When Exposé folded he co-founded Expozay, Lock’n’Load, 4Play and now Gen-X. Not only is he the bass ”man” but doubles up as the band's rigger, sound engineer and DJ. He knows that the only time the music should stop is when the audience goes home. When the set finishes he pumps out the latest chart-topping pieces to keep the crowd in the room dancing and having a great time. Whether it’s selecting the next piece for the band to learn, putting the set list together or playing the latest chart topping releases during the break, Zoran’s professional approach to everything he does on the night is designed to do one thing; to give the audience a maximum entertainment experience.

Drums... Nick Ilievski

Nick is the youngest member of Gen-X but don’t be fooled by his age, he’s been hitting the skins since he was 8 years old! Further back than that, he’d been listening to Gen-X’s performances before he was born!

Whilst at school he played in countless bands and projects performing in Starstruck and touring the USA in 2013. In 2015, he had his first gig with Gen-X and continued to backup when needed until 2018 when he became the bands number 1 drummer.

His greatest influences in drumming include Stewart Copeland, Chad Smith and Jeff Porcaro.
