Solo artist Brendan Murphy is best known for his unique songwriting, soothing vocals, expressive guitar style and inviting personality. After years performing professionally, releasing two solo albums and entertaining audiences of all walks of life, Brendan continues to generate great music.
‘The gentleman’ of the music world, Brendan is renowned for providing that extra touch to each and every performance. Teaching himself to play guitar at the age of 16 Brendan
quickly developed a unique sound that set him apart from others. He received critical acclaim from an internationalmagazine describing him as, ’drawing comparisons to some
of the foremost soloists of the past decade’.
Whether it’s his sensitive and eloquent acoustic style or his compelling electric interpretations, his versatility as a guitarist is highly impressive.
Brendan’s unique voice charms audiences with its smooth, sensual tone. Very much the character singer,
he manipulates his vocal delivery to suit the song. His talent for songwriting is showcased in his artful original material, releasing two successful albums, ‘Goodtimes’ (2002) and ‘Brendan Murphy’ (2008). In recent years he has produced 100s of children’s songs in addition to 100s of instrumental based pieces.
He has the rare gift of writing exceptional songs that are truly unique with intriguing lyrics and infectious melodies and derives satisfaction from playing live music at venues around NSW including Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, Blue Mountains, Sydney, Central Coast, North Coast and central and rural NSW.
Under lights, fully sequenced and energized with electric guitar or the more gentle approach with his vocal and acoustic sounds, Brendan is able to adapt his show to suit any crowd. His diversity of music extends from the 50’s to the latest material, each song shaped and molded to make it his own. His repertoire has been carefully devised to cater for all age groups and with such a diverse array of songs, Brendan is in constant demand for weddings, parties and popular commercial venues.
Not limited to his solo act, Brendan also shares the stage with his sister Meaghan in the duo The Dreamcatchers.
Brendan says, "it is always an honour to be chosen to perform at weddings and special events. I enjoy creating the atmosphere for such a special day in a couple’s life, or for someone's special celebration. I like to begin with intimate music and gradually bring the room to party mode after all the formalities."
Brendan’s all round musical talent means every live encounter is an enthralling & uplifting experience. The success and longevity of Brendan’s continuing music career is testament to a true musical artist.
