In his solo shows Greg plays a very wide range of popular covers spanning 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 21st Century to present day .
Greg performs every week singing and playing both acoustic and electric guitar at concerts, pubs, clubs, festivals and private functions. He specialises in reading his audience/demographic and playing accordingly. He utilises guitar and voice with a stompboard which is very organic and danceable without having to use backing tracks. He also is deft with the Loop pedal which allows him to record chord patterns in real time and play guitar solos over the top. For example, songs like Sultans of Swing and Hotel California complete with guitar solos. Along with the classics and singalongs he’s just as likely to intersperse more recent favourites from the likes of Ed Sheeran and George Ezra etc.
He also is often asked to perform his original works especially in the Hunter region where he’s written and performed songs with original bands DV8, ALL WITHOUT A SPACESUIT, HOT YOGIs and JIGZAG. He has also written and co-written songs for THE SCREAMING JETS that have been recorded by them on three of their most popular records. Over the years he has recorded 7 albums with DV8, 5 albums with Jigzag, 1 album with Hot Yogis, new recordings with AWASpacesuit, and a solo record, Helium Heart, as well.
Greg has appeared at many festivals around Australia and the world including in Canada, Denmark, Finland, UK, New Caledonia and NZ. He has made audiences happy from Backpacker pub gigs in George St. Sydney and the Qld Sunshine Coast to weddings, birthday parties and various functions. No stage is too small or large. He has played on the stage of Sydney Entertainment Centre to 12,000 people and in various loungeroom concerts to 30 people.
Nick Charles from RHYTHM MAGAZINE wrote about Greg in an article : “ Greg Bryce is the great guitarist and singer songwriter from one of Australia’s most popular acoustic festival bands, Jigzag...wonderfully eclectic, virtuosic, energetic and thought provoking.....a role model for guitarists “
Scott Bevan from the Newcastle Herald said “If there was one defining moment that shaped today’s Newcastle music sound, that point was DV8. In a town where if you didn’t play covers, you didn’t get a gig, DV8’s Greg Bryce went against the grain and he and his band carved an ‘enormous’ following for his original Newcastle brand of music. Bryce is founding member, singer, guitarist and songwriter and the key to DV8’s popularity.
